SALT LAKE CITY - Mary Catherine "Cathy" Hammon Kesler passed away peacefully Friday, August 29, 2003 at LDS Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, we will miss her warm generous spirit.
Cathy was born in her grandmother's farmhouse in Roy, UT May 11, 1929 to Daniel Jedediah Ham-mon, Jr. and Selena Kippen Hammon. She grew up in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School. She attended Weber College and later worked at Hill Field. On Sept 29, 1951 Cathy married James V. Kesler, Jr. at Camp Carson, CO. They spent many years together and even after divorcing, remained good friends.
Cathy was a personnel specialist who worked for the Federal Government at the Weather Bureau, the V.A. Hospital and the Bureau of Mines. She was the best at what she did.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cathy was proud of her great pioneer heritage and her upbringing. She loved her parents and siblings with all her heart. Some of her fondest memories are of time spent on her grandparents' sheep ranch in Morgan County. Cathy was a loving mother to her only child, Christina, and she worked and sacrificed to provide her with a happy life. She was a loyal friend who gave her love freely to everyone. Cathy's greatest joy was found in her grandchildren, Lizabeth, Jed, Ian and Anna. They loved and will always miss their "OMA."
